Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the worldwide community to rally in support of the Iranian nuclear accord after talks with leaders of the Islamic Republic, following President Donald Trump's move away from the multinational pact.

Within the framework of the meeting, the presidents are expected to hold bilateral meetings as well.

Presidents of Iran and Russian Federation called for continuing commitment to the 2015 worldwide nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers. Our cooperation can isolate the United States.

US President Donald Trump has refused to confirm whether his government will comply with the agreement and has threatened a harder line on Iran, which the US suspects has been seeking to build a nuclear bomb.

At the summit, Rouhani said interaction between the three countries helps promote regional cooperation and stability, adding that Iran "welcomes any idea and mechanism that could strengthen relations among Tehran, Moscow and Baku".

"So far, good agreements have reached between Iran and Russian Federation in the areas of energy, peaceful nuclear technology, and transportation, but more efforts are needed to put these agreements into practice in the course of growing ties", he added.

Moscow said Syria will be a focus of Putin's visit, which comes after Russia, Iran and Turkey pledged after negotiations in Kazakhstan yesterday to bring the Syrian regime and its opponents together for a "congress" to push peace efforts. "It shows the determination of Tehran and Moscow to deepen their strategic alliance., which will shape the future of the Middle East", an Iranian official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

"Moscow sees no limit to development of cooperation with Tehran", he said. Iran could gain access to European markets via the Black Sea, while Russian Federation and Azerbaijan could reach Arab markets through the Gulf.

Another Iranian official said Trump's hawkish Iran policy had united the Islamic Republic's often feuding leadership - split into hardline conservative, pragmatist and reformist factions - in alignment with Russian Federation.

As reported, the Russian President's working visit will end by a private talk with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
