LAPD Opens Investigation Into Terry Crews' Report of Sexual Assault

Actor Terry Crews has reportedly filed a police report in Los Angeles against William Morris Endeavor agent Adam Venit over groping allegations he made public a month ago.

On Wednesday, Crews, 49, met with officers in the LAPD Hollywood Station, an LAPD spokesperson told PEOPLE. There have been reports that Venit was giving people wedgies at the event as a joke. "We're going to go all the way".

Crews, who stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, publicly voiced the allegations for the first time last month, tweeting that a "high-level Hollywood executive" had "groped my privates" at a party a year ago.

Captain Cory Palka of the LAPD confirmed the news toVariety; Crews, a former National Football League player who now stars in Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, first came forward with the allegation on Twitter.

"I was going to kick his ass right then - but I thought twice about how the whole thing would appear", he added. Because this kind of thing happened to me.

Crews went on to say that he was shocked and stepped back to see his wife's reaction.

Filing a report with the LAPD could lead to a criminal investigation and potential charges since the alleged groping happened within California's statute of limitations.

"He called me the next day with an apology but never really explained why he did what he did", the actor wrote.

Crews declined to name the executive, and said he has empathy for "those who have remained silent".
