Kelvin Benjamin traded to Buffalo Bills

The NFL's trade deadline has just passed and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin will no longer be receiving passes from Cam Newton.

In stark contrast to shipping out Watkins for cornerback E.J.

Many believed that Buffalo was "tanking" for a high draft slot, but after a 5-2 start, the Bills became "buyers" rather than "sellers" at the trade deadline.

"If you're 0-7, I'm not sure you're giving away a [draft] pick", Beane said at a news conference Tuesday evening.

The move immediately improves the Buffalo passing game.

In 40 career National Football League games, Benjamin has 168 catches for 2,424 yards and 18 touchdowns. He has 32 catches, two of them resulting in touchdowns. Bills GM Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott have a strong handle on Benjamin as a player and teammate after spending the last three years with him on a daily basis in the Carolina organization. The Bills can obviously negotiate a new long-term contract to reduce that cap figure.

He was originally selected by the NFC South franchise in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Those deals gave the Bills 19 draft picks between 2018 and 2019, including 12 in the first four rounds.
