Isco: Bale having a hard time after latest injury setback

Gareth Bale has suffered a new injury in training and could be out for up to a month.

Bale, who had his 2016-17 campaign disrupted by calf and ankle problems, was back in training with Zinedine Zidane's squad ahead of next weekend's derby at Atletico Madrid but a club statement confirmed he has strained an adductor muscle in his left leg.

'He's having a hard time'.

Both AS and rival publication Marca calculated that Bale has until now missed 73 Madrid games through injury since joining the Spanish giants for a then world record 100.7 million euros ($117 million) from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

Bale, 28, has only made nine appearances in all competitions this season, and was expected to face Atletico, until a setback in training.

Fans have been desperate to see Bale reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in attack following the club's slow start to the campaign.

The 28-year-old forward also missed Wales' final two World Cup qualifiers last month as they failed to qualify for next year's tournament in Russian Federation.

Bale hasn't played for Madrid since September when he was ruled unfit to play because of "swelling (.) to the soleus muscle of his left leg".

It is not just an issue that has affected Bale just this year.
