How will Hardik Patel's 'sex CD' impact Gujarat elections?

A day after a purported sex video of PAAS leader Hardik Patel surfaced, another clip emerged today (Tuesday) in which a man resembling the Patidar quota stir spearhead is seen relaxing on a bed with two men and a woman. "The BJP is looking to retain power by defaming me", he said. The video clips, showing recording of the night of May 16, 2017, sent social media into a tizzy as it was forwarded with barbs like "Patidar community and Gujarat's traitor Hardik Patel's kaam leela" and "This is the real face of pervert Hardik Patel who is misguiding Patel community".

The footage shows a lookalike of Hardik Patel with an unidentified woman, fully clothed and with her back to the camera, and few minutes later the room turns dark.

The allegation - which has not been proved - is that the man in the video is Hardik Patel, the leader of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS). Hardik said that he would tell the truth on November 18. "Lekin Gujarat ki mahilaaon ka apmaan kiya ja raha hai (The dirty politics has begun, I will not be intimidated by the defaming attempts, but the women of Gujarat are being defamed)", Hardik said in a tweet.

Opposition parties have termed the Hardik Patel video CD leak incident as an attempt made by BJP to tarnish his image ahead of the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls. Sibal said that according to the Article 31 of our Constitution, such provisions have been provided, according to which the state government can make new laws to fulfill the constitutional responsibilities in its state and The court cannot interfere in the changes made by the state government through constitutional proposition. He alleged that the video was made in Bangkok, and vowed to take necessary legal steps.

Hardik Patel a week ago warned that the BJP would employ a "sex CD" to discredit him. "Patidars are wholeheartedly supporting Hardik Patel".

The distinction serves to underscore Hardik Patel's message that the Congress should not take him for granted. "The party is now interfering in my personal life", he said. Hardik has played a pivotal role in the Patel quota agitation across the state of Gujarat.

The Gujarat assembly elections will be held in two phases.
