Dejan Lovren reveals extent of online abuse with Instagram death threat

It was awfully sad to see the level of abuse aimed at Dejan Lovren on social media.

Dejan Lovren has posted a screen shot of a death threat that he has received from a so-called fan of Liverpool Football Club.

He said, as quoted by the BBC: "I can not ignore when my family is threatened".

He then added a second image and wrote: "I don't mind when people talk shit about me, it says more about them!"

"The clown from the IT movie would have been good, Donald Trump was another option, but in the end it had to be Lovren". He was at fault for the opening two goals in the game and was substituted by manager Jürgen Klopp after just half an hour of play at Wembley.

The 28-year-old Croatia centre-back has endured a hard start to the Premier League season with Liverpool, with many fans calling for Jurgen Klopp to drop him from the first-team due to inconsistent form.

Lovren had an opportunity for redemption against Huddersfield when he was named in the starting XI.

Several fans are making a late push to try to get the centre-back to win the club's Player of the Month award for October. That's the third-highest total and it's unlikely he will surpass Mohamed Salah, who has received 55 per cent of votes.

Here's what Liverpool fans are tweeting.

Police have warned anyone planning on dressing up as the Liverpool defender to stay away from Jurgen Klopp and Simon Mignolet's houses as they could suffer a potentially fatal shock if they were to answer the door to multiple Lovrens.

'I don't wish one of you to have your mistakes discussed in public, ' Klopp said last Friday.

"We had a normal week".

It seems some people need reminding that, despite the wealth, footballers still have feelings.
