Call of Duty WWII makes over $500 million in opening weekend

Call of Duty: WW2 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Well, after being on the market for three days, it seems like thatbsame enthusiasm was brought over to sales - publisher Activision has released a few different sales numbers for the first-person shooter.

The fact that Call of Duty: WW2 sales have performed much better than last year's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was already proof that the new game has been a success. It also set a record on the Playstation 4 for the best-selling digital full game by units sold on its first day of release.

According to company estimates, the $500 million figure tops the box office openings for Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman combined.

In my opinion, it's nice to see a series that I played and loved in high school make a comeback in terms of popularity.

Despite breaking records left and right, Call of Duty WW2 is not the fastest-selling Call of Duty game of all-time, falling just short of Black Ops III's $550 million in its first three days. Twice as many copies of WWII were sold at launch compared to past year, which featured Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered. "And we're committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content".

Call of Duty: WWII's peak concurrent player count is five times higher than the series' last outing.

Activision made a shrewd decision when they chose to pair Modern Warfare Remastered to Infinite Warfare thus forcing those that desire to play the old game again, to purchase the latest FPS title. Digital downloads of Call of Duty: WWII is based on unit sell-through on first day of availability.
