Burnley boss Dyche plays down Everton links

Dyche's success has seen him linked with a number of clubs recently, with recent reports linking the so-called "Ginger Mourinho" with the manager's job at Goodison Park following the sacking of Ronald Koeman as Everton manager.

He now has the The Clarets sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, after a 1-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night.

However, after taking their time to consider the Dutchman's long-term replacement, Sky Sports News are reporting that Everton will contact Burnley in the next 24 hours to seek permission to speak with Dyche about the vacancy.

"If he has been, or gets offered the Everton job, he has to take it", said Carragher on Sky Sports.

Whatever the truth is, Dyche is an underwhelming choice as Everton boss. "You cover every inch of everyone who's ever been linked in the history of every club, so they read that". It's miraculous what he's done with Burnley, but with the finances he could easily be in the bottom three next season.

It has been claimed that Everton are aware of the compensation they would have to shell out in order to take Dyche away from Turf Moor, but Unsworth is expected to remain in charge until at least the global break.

"It is early on in the season, well relatively early", he added.

"The games are tight but we've come out the right side when we've needed to and got the points when we've needed to".

Burnley have lost only two of 10 games, a record more remarkable given they have played and remained unbeaten against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. "So it's very pleasing overall".

"Sean Dyche won't go to a team in the Champions League in this country".
