Broncos "Not Sure" Who Their Starting Quarterback Will Be

Things came to a head Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, with three interceptions and a couple of inexplicable throws, and Broncos head coach Vance Joseph wavered from his prior firm commitment to Siemian as the starting quarterback after the game.

Next to Osweiler during breaks for the Broncos' offense was starter Trevor Siemian, who piled up one costly mistake after another in Denver's 29-19 loss to the Chiefs.

"I'm going to watch the film tonight and tomorrow, like most coaches would do, and see", Joseph said. Cornerback Chris Harris correctly noted that the team "can't win if we can't score" and that it's hard when the offense digs a hole for the team by turning the ball over.

Siemian knows he has to play better and would understand if he was benched in favour of either Brock Osweiler or second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch. Siemian had completed just 5-of-14 passes for 56 yards and two interceptions by halftime, compiling an 8.9 rating.

The Broncos (3-4) have a defense and running game that are capable of reaching the playoffs. "[Siemian] has to play his way out of bad plays and not make them worse, that's his job as a quarterback". His injury could be why the Broncos have stuck with Trevor Siemian this long, and Denver may just be waiting for Lynch to get fully healthy before making a switch. Lynch was a first-round pick in 2016 after a prolific career at Memphis.

But the three-game losing streak has put any and all potential changes in the offensive huddle on the table.

The problem for Joseph and the Broncos is the depth chart is unsettled behind Siemian. "It's fair to say, right now, everything is being discussed". "We're not winning. We're not taking care of the football". "We're giving the ball away".
