Beyoncé joins the cast of Disney's

Walt Disney Studios has announced a live-action remake of The Lion King 2019, and cast is something out of a dream.

Rumors have swirled in Hollywood for months about Beyoncé's reported attachment to the project, but she waited until Wednesday to confirm her role as Nala in a Facebook post.

James Earl Jones is bringing his dulcet tones back to the part of Mufasa, a role he first voiced in the 1994 animated classic. Thankfully for everyone, it's official, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

"The Lion King" is among several live action reboots of Disney animated classics. Is it too early to start a countdown?

The film is being conceived along the same lines as another recent remake, The Jungle Book, which also saw big names voicing photorealistic computer-generated animals. After directing the live-action version of The Jungle Book in 2016, Jon Favreau has been tapped to helm The Lion King which is slated for a 2019 release and he couldn't be more excited about the cast he is working with. The singer, songwriter, and actress will take on the role of a lion named Nala, the love interest to the main character Simba, who will be played by Atlanta and Community's Donald Glover. Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, Difficult People) and Seth Rogen (The Interview, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) will voice the iconic duo of Timon and Pumba respectively. Alfre Woodard plays Simba's mother, Sarabi; John Oliver lends his voice for the hornbill Zazu; and John Kani for the wise baboon Rafiki.
