1 dead, 2 injured after shooting at Chicago Starbucks

A second man sustained a gunshot wound to the body; police say he self-transported to Weiss Hospital, police said.

Bryan Stroud, 52, of Ravenswood, who was one of the witnesses during the incident, said he just stepped outside the coffee shop to say hello to a friend and in a matter of moments they saw a man wearing a black mask entering the coffee shop and unload a.22-caliber handgun.

The chase broke out after a drug deal, ABC7 reported.

Buslik said police believe the wounded boy and man knew the dead man but did not elaborate on their relationship.

"If they do tolerate that I will make their lives miserable", he said. "We have had issues for years with illegal activity at this business, with very little response or help from Starbucks' management to correct the problems".

Police responded at 8:15 p.m.

"As far as we can tell, this was not a random act", Buslik said, per the Chicago Sun-Times. Police said they were waiting for Watkins inside the Starbucks, but did not disclose the nature of the child's relationship to the two men.

"My concern has been this particular business hasn't been as proactive as it should be to address the drug dealing on its premises", Cappleman said.

Starbucks spokesman Reggie Borges said the company was "dismayed" by the shooting.

The store will be closed tomorrow morning as we focus on our local store partners, ensuring they have the support they need.

No suspects are in custody, and police are still investigating. He could've come out and started shooting the crowd.

In that same time frame, there have been almost 700 arrests for various narcotics offenses, data show.
