Venom Filming Kicks Off with the Release of a Set Photo

After several announcements of casting quite exciting and testifying to the interest that Sony door to the license, Venom unveils its first official image. The official page for the film has released its first set photo, announcing that today has been "Day 1" of production!

Beyond confirming that production on the movie has begun with Hardy on set, the photo reveals very little, with no costume unveiling or easily identifiable setting to latch onto. The only other live-action version of the character was a CGI creation for Spider-Man 3; if anything, a full motion-capture performance from Hardy will probably make the character even more enjoyable and convincing. Ruben Fleischer is set to direct, while the film will be penned by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. More recently, the Venom symbiote has been moving between hosts, including Mac Gargan (aka The Scorpion) and Peter Parker's old high school rival, Flash Thompson.

Venom is one of the most famous villains of Spider-man and is a fan-favourite.

"Acting is acting, and the more actors - like Steve Zahn... and Karin Konoval who plays Maurice in "War For The Planet of the Apes" - the more A-list actors that come on board, like Mark Rylance playing The BFG, or a lot of actors in the new Marvel films..." As a result, the film is unconnected to this summer's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which starred Tom Holland as the wisecracking webslinger.

Venom is scheduled for an October 5, 2018 release.

The only Marvel movie that Serkis is now involved with is Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, in which he reprises his Avengers: Age of Ultron role as Ulysses Klaue, aka Klaw.

Venom has added Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, with actors like Scott Haze, Reid Scott, in talks, and Rogue One star Riz Ahmed rumored to play Carnage.
