Vanessa Lachey Calls Last Night's 'DWTS' Dance 'Magical'

It was the beloved "Most Favorite Year" episode, and while hubby Nick Lachey chose 2011 - the year that they "got married and started our family" - Vanessa chose 2017, the year that her "family was complete" after the birth of her third child Phoenix Robert.

Vanessa began to cry telling the story, and her husband, singer Nick Lachey, couldn't help but get choked up as well.

Nick admitted he was "petrified" during the six weeks Phoenix spent in the NICU, but he says the experience brought him closer to Vanessa. She was immediately taken into surgery to safely deliver the baby on Christmas Eve. I never felt so helpless, ' Nick confessed. The father of one then commended his celebrity partner as he looked forward to share more memorable moments with her in the upcoming weeks of the competition.

Vanessa went on to explain the fear she had when waking up from surgery. "There was nothing I could do".

This week, pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy made his return to the dance floor with Vanessa Lachey on "Dancing with the Stars".

But the couple made it through the hard experience by supporting each other. And I remembered thinking, 'I hope the baby's okay, and don't worry about me. The pair performed an emotional rumba set for "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" by Nick Lachey, which earned them a score of 24 out of 30 points.

One in 10 infants are born premature in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but despite how common preterm births are, people often keep their struggles to themselves, which is why Vanessa and Nick felt it was so important to share their story with the world.

Wasn't it fearless of Nick and Vanessa to open up about their traumatic experience in order to give other NICU parents hope?
