Talwars released from Dasana Jail

Talwars released from Dasana Jail

Dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar on Monday evening walked out of the Dasna Jail here after four years, after being absolved of the charge of murdering their daughter and domestic help, to a warm welcome at Nupur's parental home.

Citing witness statements of Talwar's neighbours and the policemen who first reached the crime scene, CBI had alleged that they had all spotted bloodstain on the stairs and on the lock put on the terrace. They had shifted from their own apartment in which there daughter, Arushi was murdered.

The doctor couple, who'll be released from Ghaziabad's Dasna jail on Monday afternoon, is likely to head to Group Captain (retd) BG Chitnis's home, father of Nupur Talwar.

The Talwars, who have been behind bars for almost four years, walked out of the jail at 5 pm.

They did not speak to the journalists but Jail Superintendent B.R. Maurya told the media that the Talwars left for Noida after thanking the prison officials "for their cooperative attitude towards them". Last week, the Allahabad High Court acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the case and said in its verdict that neither the circumstances nor the evidence were enough to hold them guilty. According to jailor D Maurya, the Talwars refused as much as Rs 49,500 as fee.

"They have been the backbone of the clinic inside the jail and revived it after they arrived here", said Anand Pandey, a pharmacist at Dasna jail.

The judges observed that the circumstantial evidences against the Talwars were inadequate and the CBI had failed to fill in the gaps in the evidences. They then appealed against that verdict in the Allahabad High Court, which has ripped apart the CBI.

On May 16, 2008, Aarushi Talwar was found dead in her bedroom while Hemraj's body was found on the roof of Talwar's flat in Jal Vayu Vihar located in sector 25, Noida.

Meer Tanvir Ahmad, the counsel for the Talwars, said that the court pointed out that there was a "strong alternative theory" in the case-the one about some outsiders being present in the flat when the murders took place.
