Sensex Zooms 135 Points at 31969, Nifty Above 10000

Index heavyweights like Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Sun Pharma, Axis Bank and Hindustan Unilever, among others, aided in the upward trajectory of the indices, according to market observers.

The broader NSE Nifty recaptured the key 10,000-mark and ended at 10,096.40, up 111.60 points or 1.12 per cent, recording its biggest single-day gain since May 25 when it rallied 149.20 points. BSE Sensex was up by over 83 points or 0.26% at 31,917.72 while the wider Nifty was up by over 31 points or 0.31% at 10,015.95.

On Thursday, the markets overcame a volatile day of trading to close with huge gains. Intra-day, it scaled a high and a low of 10,104.45 and 9,977.10, respectively.

On a closing basis, the market capitalisation of the company stood at Rs 5,52,515.10 crore, as shown on the BSE side.

All BSE sectoral indices were trading in the positive zone.

Buoyed by positive global cues and healthy buying in metals, banking and automobile stocks, key Indian equity indices provisionally closed on a higher note on Thursday.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.43%), NTPC (1.14%), Reliance Industries (1.02%), Hero Motocorp (0.95%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.86%), and Tata Steel (0.85%). Asian Paints, ICICI banks and Coal India were top losers, shedding more than 0.8% each.
