Ramdev opposes SC ban on firecrackers, says 'Hindus being targeted'

Chetan Bhagat had also recently in a series of tweets deduced how the ban is against the Hindu festivals.

There is also no clarity as to what happens with those who are buying firecrackers from neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as there is no ban on bursting firecrackers. Ramdev said, "an intelligent man like Tharoor must not talk like this".

The author while saying that without crackers how can children celebrate Diwali, had asked the ban supporters if they would also fight for a ban on the tradition of sacrificing animals on festivals like Bakr-Eid. Firecrackers are unholy add-ons.

Opposing Supreme Court ban on the sale of firecrackers across Delhi-NCR, yoga guru Baba Ramdev said that one particular community is being targeted.

The Supreme Court would on Friday hear a plea by a group of traders seeking modification of its October 9 order by which the sale of firecrackers was banned in the Delhi-national capital region (NCR) till November 1. This made them procure firecrackers for sale during Diwali.

According to the lawyers representing the traders, the courts order on October 9 would cause a huge loss to the traders.

An analysis by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which is India's nodal pollution watchdog, of the ambient air and noise pollution in Delhi after Diwali a year ago said that the PM10 levels was found to have increased in all places in the city as compared to 2015. The court, in its last year's direction, had suspended all licenses which permits sale of fireworks, wholesale and retail within the territory of NCR till further orders.
