Patriots QB Tom Brady expected to play vs. Jets

He seemed pleased to learn that he leads all National Football League defensive lineman with five PDs after five weeks (he also deflected a pass at Buffalo). He's second in QB rating (112.0) and has thrown 11 touchdowns to one interception. "Let's line them up and play", said Brady in his press conference prior to the game against the Panthers.

The Patriots will not release an injury report with a potential update on Brady's status until today. The injury was identified by Ian Rapoport as an AC joint sprain in the quarterback's left shoulder, indicative of the kind of beating he has taken this year. "I'm excited for this weekend".

"Tom is as physically and mentally tough as any player I've coached, " said Belichick.

McCown, now in his 15th season, voiced respect for his counterpart.

Tom Brady grinned broadly as he addressed the anticipated questions Wednesday. "We have to go out there and play extremely fast, extremely hard, but most of all we have to play extremely smart as a team, collectively". In my opinion, probably rightfully so.

Running back Bilal Powell (calf) and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson (shoulder, toe) both missed practice Wednesday in Florham Park. The good news is that the injury is in his left shoulder - not his throwing shoulder.

"Some guys have gotten lucky", Bowles said.

This is a stiff test for a Jets defense that has beaten Jay Cutler, Blake Bortles and DeShone Kizer/Kevin Hogan in the team's three-game winning streak. "We'll just monitor it during the week and see how he's feeling". Limited participants were CB Juston Burris (foot), DE Kony Ealy (shoulder), RB Matt Forte (knee, toe), CB Darryl Roberts (hamstring). After the Jets lost on the road to the Bills and the Raiders, they came away with wins over the Dolphins, Jaguars and the Browns.
