Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch suspended one game by the NFL

The NFL issued a one-game suspension to Marshawn Lynch for making contact with an official during the Raiders' Thursday Night Football win over the Chiefs in Week 7.

He was ejected from the game and assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after running onto the field from the sideline following a late hit on Raiders quarterback Derek Carr by Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters, who is also Lynch's cousin.

"I didn't know all that", said Reid when asked what he thought of one of his players speaking on behalf of a player from a rival team.

Lynch had argued during Monday's appeal hearing that nine other players, including Aaron Donald and Taylor Lewan last season, have made contact with an official and none have been suspended, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Lynch bumped line judge Julian Mapp in the chest and then grabbed the official by the jersey before letting go and tending to Peters.

An official pulled at Lynch as he attempted to break up the fight. He had just two carries for 9 yards before his ejection and has rushed for 266 yards on 72 carries (3.7 yards per carry) with two touchdowns so far this season.
