New UFC champ Tony Ferguson: I'm going to expose Conor McGregor

Assuming McGregor intends on keeping his title, he'll be required to face Ferguson to unify the two crowns once he returns from his extended hiatus from mixed martial arts.

Hoping to get McGregor to agree to a lightweight championship showdown with Eddie Alvarez - which White publicly claimed was never on the table - the UFC went after Nurmagomedov much in the same way it now has Ferguson.

Despite a switch to boxing for a megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr that ended in defeat, the Irishman remains one of the biggest draws in MMA.

President Dana White recently labelled talk of an eagerly-anticipated trilogy fight against arch-rival Nate Diaz as "internet b******t", suggesting that a meeting with Tony Ferguson now has to happen after the latter beat Kevin Lee at UFC 216 to become the interim champion of an extremely strong division.

"I think Conor would be a flawless fit with WWE", McMahon said.

"His style is, you know, it's not traditional, it's a bit unorthodox and stuff, but I just honestly think that Conor's going to be way too clean for Ferguson", he said. "But of course, it makes sense that he fights (Ferguson), he defends the belt". "The doctors already know that I'm not injured". The Ferguson fight is an interesting one as well. Fights with Justin Gaethje or Eddie Alvarez could see Lee enter the top five with a win, but there's one that could most likely be the next step for Lee, Edson Barboza.

"He has some things to tie up in the UFC before he can do anything else but this is a big money deal so I can't see him turning it down". He goes in. He looks to finish fights. It does not matter what Tony, Dana or anyone says, Conor is going to do exactly what he wants to do.

Rumors of McGregor appearing at WrestleMania cropped up past year as well but nothing ever came to fruition. "But yeah, without a doubt if he wants to stand and bang with Conor it'll be lights out fairly quick, I think".

"I think the one unique thing that Diaz has is just that unbelievable chin, and like, I don't think Ferguson would be able to take the shots that Diaz took", Roddy said. "That really worked. Conor could do it for sure". I think the fans deserve it. "The new age are dweebs, let's be honest here, they're absolute dweebs", McGregor said. Despite White labelling such talk as "internet bullshit", McGregor and his coaches [John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy] have all talked openly as that fight being a live option.
