In Winchester, about a dozen officers and Chief John Piper sipped coffee and conversed with customers at Moe's Donut Shop and Steamy's Cafe on East Piccadilly Street.

"It was a great opportunity to stand beside the Berkeley (city) police leadership and talk about shared concerns and hopes for our community".

Although, the event was held by the Mt. Juliet Police Department, Chandler said he's happy Wilson County sheriff's deputies were able to attend.

The conversations including news tips and suggestions, help officers better serve and protect the people in the community. In Livingston, many members of the department were enthusiastic about enjoying a sunny afternoon with members of the community and discussing various community issues with them.

"We don't often get a chance to interact in a non-serious setting", Splawn said.

"It was a very positive morning", Millholland said. "It's important that we have that open communication".
