The Gunners headed into the global break after a 2-0 win over Premier League newcomers Brighton on Sunday afternoon, with goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi sealing the points for the home side.

Since capping a turbulent August with a terrible 4-0 loss at Liverpool, Arsenal have since won six and drawn at Chelsea.

"We got the clean sheet, we got the three points", he told BT Sport.

Arsenal's Nacho Monreal celebrates scoring his side's first goal of the game with teammates during the Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, London.

Goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi, coming either side of half-time, ensured the hosts picked up all three points in a result that moves them level with Chelsea on 13 points - six behind the two Manchester clubs. From there, the team reacted.

Brighton are in 14th place with seven points after suffering its fourth defeat this season.

Manager Arsene Wenger was not impressed with his club.

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger, who joined Arsenal back in 1996, marked the 21st anniversary of his arrival at the club with the victory.

'Our last global break was a nightmare, this one is a bit better, ' said Wenger.

This has led to renewed questioning by some Arsenal fans as to whether Wenger should continue at the helm, especially as the Gunners have dropped out of the Champions League this season. It's always the same, I think great players together with the right attitude, they make each other better.

"The only disappointment in the game is that we could have shown a little more on the ball and been a little more adventurous on the ball".

Indeed, the last newly promoted side to win at the Emirates in the Premier League were Newcastle in November 2010 - then managed by current Brighton boss Chris Hughton.

"We have only played seven games, and there are 31 to go", he said.

'When you are 21 years somewhere you know that you have good and bad moments.

"He is the kind of player who has good availability, helps you a lot to get out of pressure and creates spaces".
