Another fast food chain, Wendy's, has also commented on the joke, expressing disappointment that KFC are not "following back".

A man named Mike Edgette has solved the mystery of why the KFC Twittter account only follows 11 people when it has 1.2 million followers itself.

Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb. 11 Herbs & Spices. The other five members are the Spice Girls, the complement to a pun that has gained much attention since a Twitter user put five and six together on Thursday.

Some have even suggested that it might represent the different ratio of spices and herbs that KFC uses in its chicken marinade: five spices, and six herbs. "Genius", wrote one Twitter user. AKA the secret recipe for KFC chicken.

One thing is for sure, Colonel Sanders would be proud.

Many have tried to figure out the blend of ingredients.

The Tribune listed the 11 ingredients as salt, thyme, basil, oregano, celery salt, black pepper, dried mustard, paprika, garlic salt, ground ginger and white pepper.
