Former Penn State 5-star QB pledge Justin Fields commits to Georgia

The Peach State native visited Georgia five times since mid-July - including twice in September - and has now decided to make Athens his official home. The quarterback is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has reeled in another great recruit.

Georgia is off to a 5-0 start and ranked No. 5 in the country thanks in large part to the efforts of true freshman quarterback Jake Fromm.

Fields decommitted from Penn State last summer, but it's likely that this sticks.

With Fields' commitment, Georgia now has the No. 11 signing class in the nation for the Class of 2018, according to 247Sports. He made an official visit to Alabama last weekend.

It was believed that Florida would be his preferred destination at that time, but Fields' recruitment opened up wide to include Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU and UGA - the first team he visited after decommitting from PSU. As recently as May that class was ranked in the fifties.

"I know I just committed and everything, but I'm already hitting guys up, telling them to come join me cause I want the best players to play with me", Fields explained. "Fields is a national championship quarterback", Simmons wrote.

"It is incredible to have one of the best quarterback prospects I've seen", said Christopher Smith III, a four-star defensive back who committed to Georgia on May 1. Henry, ESPN 300 offensive linemen Jamaree Salyer and Trey Hill, defensive back Tyreke Johnson, running back James Cook and plenty more. "His ability to run and throw is simply unbelievable".
