Disney goes to the dogs: several resort hotels now dog-friendly

For more information about the new dog-friendly trial program, guests should call the resort at (407) W-Disney (934-7639).

As part of the new dog-friendly test program, Disney is ensuring all schnauzers, great danes, poodles, and very good dogs travel as comfortably as their owners with an amenity kit given upon check-in filled with puppy pads, dog walking maps, disposable bags, a pet ID tag, a mat and bowls for food and water. In order to use Resort transportation, dogs must remain in pet carriers for the duration of transit.

Pups will get access to outdoor pet exercise and relief areas, Disney said, and an aptly named Pluto's Welcome Kit.

Disney's Yacht Club, Art of Animation, and Port Orleans Riverside Resorts will now allow pets, along with the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

- Soon it will be possible for guests to experience the magic of Disney with their four-legged family members.

Disney's Yacht Club charges $75 per night, and the others $50 per night.

There is an additional cleaning fee for having your dog in the room, which varies depending on the resort. All other Resort transportation and public transportation, including Walt Disney World Monorails and Friendship Boats, are available to Guests with licensed service animals only.

For those in California, Disneyland Resort Hotels do not allow pets in their rooms aside from "trained service animals". Best Friends Pet Care continues to offer daycare, so your family's best friend can have as good of a time at the parks as you do.

The dogs are expected to be well behaved and on leashes, as well as have proper vaccinations.
