Bundesliga matches and counting - Heynckes' Bayern return in Opta numbers

Jupp Heynckes has said that Bayern Munich are the only club in the world he would have come out of retirement for.

Bayern have suffered a disappoitning start to the 2017/18 season, losing to Hoffenheim while also drawing with Wolfsberg and Hertha Berlin - results which see them trail league leaders Borrussia Dortmund by five points already. "We are thankful that Jupp has accepted the job as our head coach".

Ancelotti left the club in September while Bayern was third in the Bundesliga. My staff and I will invest everything we have now so the team will be able to present successful football to our fans again soon. He is not "very much looking forward" to working with the team and getting them back on track for the rest of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti parted company with Bundesliga giants "Bayern Munich" after an internal analysis by the club following their shock 3-0 loss at Paris St. Germain. "I think re was no better solution, it is ideal decision because he knows club inside", said Boateng.

That haul also helped him scoop the FIFA World Coach of the Year award in 2013.

Work in Spain followed, at Athletic Bilbao, Tenerife and Real Madrid, where he won the Champions League in 1997. He led the club to a historic treble in 2012-13, with Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League crowns secured.

Heynckes coached Bayern over three periods - from 1987 to 1991, briefly in 2009 and then between 2011 and 2013.

As the contract as just until the end of the season, presumably Bayern will be laying the groundwork for a more long-term successor.

BILD: On Monday will Jupp Heynckes have his first #FCBayern training.
