Arsenal Striker Olivier Giroud Scored the Best Goal of the Year

Castellanos, who is also one of three shortlisted for the Best FIFA Women's Player, stunned Cameroon with an remarkable strike straight from a the restart to snatch a 2-1 stoppage-time win in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Frenchman Olivier Giroud received the accolade in London last night with 36.17% of the votes to Masuluke's 27.48%.

Why? Because Masuluke's goal was much better anyway.

Giroud said: "It's an honour for me".

Interviewed about his chances of winning the Puskas award for greatest goal, the English superstar was typically dismissive, claiming that he would need to do more than score tap-ins in order to get there.

Yet Masuluke won support from among others Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt‚ who voted for the South African‚ and on the night‚ Ronaldo.

"It had to be the goalkeeper, with the bicycle kick". It was an incredible goal and the celebration matched it as well.

The Arsenal striker was up for the gong along with Venezuela's Deyna Castellanos and Oscarine Masuluke of South Africa.

"As a club, it has given us great mileage and has raised our brand and profile".
