Airline offers help to those affected by shooting

Las Vegas is the airline's hometown, so the company is offering flights to and from Las Vegas. More than 500 people were injured in the shooting.

The waiver, which extends until October 6, allows passengers with flights booked to or from Las Vegas between October 2 and October 13 to reschedule their flights without a change fee. Locally, Allegiant flights to Las Vegas depart from Ogden, Utah.

"We understand people are uneasy this week, " Grey said.

Southwest Airlines said it is "not now experiencing any operational impact at McCarran International Airport" due to the shooting.

A United Airlines spokesperson was not immediately available to confirm whether this is the first violence-provoked travel waiver from the carrier.

Las Vegas is a major destination in the United States, with numerous top airlines flying in and out of McCarran International Airport every day.

Travelers who are scheduled to fly with American Airlines will be eligible to have their change fees waived Monday and Tuesday as long as they travel by Friday and don't change any of the details of their journey, sans the date. Paddock died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene.

Authorities identified Stephen Paddock, 64, as a suspect in the attack.
