Why Xiaomi Mi A1 is the Android enthusiasts dream budget smartphone

Why Xiaomi Mi A1 is the Android enthusiasts dream budget smartphone

In terms of connectivity, Mi A1 offers 4G VoLTE along with support for WIFI 802.11, GPS with A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm Headphone Jack.

Now, Xiaomi is on top of its game and is cruising to become India's new number one smartphone brand dethroning Samsung.

Since then, several Android phones have been launched with mid-range specifications. But for now, here are my initial impressions about the Xiaomi Mi A1.

The phone has a 5.5 full HD display and is protected by Corning Gorilla glass. On the front is a 8MP camera with flash, Pro mode, and it has a 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The battery is 4000 mAh, which is another highlight of the phone. The phone might also release in the USA later. Users can add up to 128 GB of microSD card on its external storage. It came as a disappointment as Xiaomi is known to make smartphones that have solid - if not spectacular - cameras.

The device will be available in the country from 12 September via online retailer Flipkart and MI store. The device also gets 2x optical zoom.

Jamie Rosenberg, Google's vice president of business and operations for Android and Google Play, said the new Xiaomi device offered "a simple and pure Android experience". Will this device change the fortunes of Google's Android One project?

For the camera combination, there is a 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear camera setup. They provide software updates now, although not everyone is still lucky, but if you bought a fairly popular smartphone, chances are that you will get at least one major Android update. Android One is all, but dead.

The most important part of the Mi A1 is the software.

Three years later, Google has a lot to be thankful for. But one may note that the Redmi 4A device sports an IPS LCD screen while on the contrary, the alleged Redmi 5A surfaced as Xiaomi MCT3B comes with a TFT screen.

Google had first introduced Android One handsets in 2014 with Indian phone makers like Micromax, Spice and Karbonn, with all devices priced under Rs 6,500. You can backup unlimited photos and videos to Google Photos.

Though the pure Android experience in the Mi A1 is buttery smooth, however, it has a slight inconvenience to it as well. The Mi A1 runs Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) and is expected to receive Android 8.0 (Oreo) update by the end of the year.

Xiaomi is calling the shots and will act as the catalyst for the Android One program. The upcoming smartphone Mi 7 by Xiaomi will also don sensors for the light, compass, accelerometer and gyroscope to use maps and location finder. Eventually, Android One was launched in many other countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, and many more. The smartphone is powered by a 3100mAh battery. Moreover, timely patches will ensure the phone's performance doesn't drop down to the brim after a couple of months. SO, you can also use this phone as remote control. But before that we'll have to wait and see if Xiaomi helps Android one's take two any different from the first one. The Xiaomi brand has already nailed the Indian mobile phone market with its other smartphone variants and now it is gearing up to launch yet another sleek and stylish mobile phone Xiaomi Mi 7.
