Trump's 'a liar' if he ends DACA — Hispanic business leader

After months of speculation, it appears President Donald Trump will be ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program or "DACA".

La Morada - an authentic Mexican restaurant in the Bronx - has been a part of this community in the Bronx since 2009.

To qualify for the DACA program, immigrants had to prove they arrived before they were 16 and had been living in the United States for several years without committing a crime.

Chris Jennewein is the Editor-Publisher of The Times of San Diego which, along with The Moderate Voice, is a member of the San Diego Online News Association. According to media reports, Trump was determined to terminate the program.

They're called the Dreamers - some 800,000 immigrant who came here illegally as children, but now dream of the chance of becoming full citizens.

"He's being pulled in a bunch of different directions, and because he doesn't have any strong ideological anchor, or deep knowledge of the issue, he ends up sort of not knowing what to do", Krikorian said. They've committed to obeying our laws, working hard, getting an education and, if they choose, even serving in our military.

A Republican senator from Oklahoma urged President Trump not to end the "Dreamers" program, saying the United States does not "hold children legally accountable for the actions of their parents".

Assemblymember Todd Gloria tweeted that "if true, another pathetic and heartless decision by someone who obviously has no empathy for others".

"We're not criminals, we're not here taking your jobs".

At Monday's Labor Day parade, Casey said rescinding DACA would betray a commitment made to the Dreamers by the government.

"I think this is something that Congress needs to fix". Fortunately, I am no longer. We should end this conversation of good immigrant and bad immigrant.
