Spicey skits bring Emmy for Melissa McCarthy

McCarthy won the best comedy guest actress award at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards Sunday for her portrayal of the former White House press secretary on "Saturday Night Live".

In honor of McCarthy's Emmy win, take a look at some of her best Spicey skits below.

NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and HBO's "Westworld", the nominations leaders with 22 each, and Netflix's "Stranger Things" tied at the creative arts awards with five trophies apiece. As Spicer was leaving the Amtrak station in Washington, D.C., wearing a baseball cap and earphones, a reporter asked if he thinks McCarthy "owes" her Emmy to him.

Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer was one of the highlights of "SNL" this past season. (In that same interview he said broadly of SNL, "There's a streak of meanness now that they've crossed over to mean.") And shortly before resigning in July, his language turned even sharper, arguing much of the impersonation was "over the line" and "stupid or silly or malicious".

President Donald Trump has a "great sense of humor", Spicer said when asked if the president enjoyed the "SNL" sketches. It was an impression the White House was reportedly not too fond of but many fans certainly loved.

McCarthy's impression of Spicer, which she played multiple times during "SNL's" 42nd season, earned praise from almost everyone ― except the White House.
