Russian couple suspected of killing, eating 30 victims

A 35-year-old man, named as Dmitry Bakshaev, and his wife Natalia, 42, have been arrested.

"Video lessons for cannibals" were also found in the couple's home, reports local news source

The killings came to light after police stumbled on the man's phone selfies with dismembered human body parts.

Other images show human remains in a jar and a man with a human hand sticking out his mouth.

Police said the male suspect said he accidentally found the remains of the body, took the pictures and then lost the mobile phone.

The city police have arrested the couple - Natalia Baksheeva and her husband Dmitry Baksheev.

According to the Daily Star, it's alleged that the phone also contained a photo of a person's head on a plate decorated with oranges.

Baksheev claimed he found the body parts in a forest park. Fragments of bodies were also reported to be found in the courtyard and in the basement.

Video footage and snaps taken during a police search of their flat in Krasnodar, southern Russian Federation, reveal a chilling scene.

The couple reportedly still lived in the hostel accommodation at the property after once working at the site. That photo was dated December 28, 1999.

The pair stand accused of drugging their victims with tranquiliser Corvalol before attacking them and storing their remains in their fridge, freezer and cellar.

The couple tried to transform soldiers at the military academy as well where they worked, slipping "canned human meat" into their food.

Police confirmed that Baksheev and his wife were in custody and had been charged with at least one count of murder, per BBC. "Natalia is a scandalous woman, so we didn't risk it ".

Ms Smyatskaya said the dead woman had been identified as the investigation continues.
