PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Temporarily Beats Dota 2 as Most Played Game on Steam

This essentially means that Battlegrounds is attracting the more dedicated audience of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and the same applies to H1Z1: King of the Kill, Payday 2, and Left 4 Dead players, according to the site. Nevertheless, the strong interest in PUBG comes to confirm that the game is not just a fad. But this is about PUBG, not GTA V. PUBG is an Early Access game on Steam on it is proving insanely popular, probably more so than developer Bluehole Studios and publisher Microsoft Studios could have anticipated.

Last month the best-selling game of 2017 was named as Grand Theft Auto V, with the best-selling game that was actually released this year being the multiformat Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

The game, which isn't a year old yet, is also one of the top-viewed games on Twitch, and has an exclusive Facebook live streaming showcase every week to increase visibility to billions of users worldwide. A full release is planned for 2018. There are plenty of humorous situations and there are also very tense and unsettling moments that makes it worthy as a horror video game title.

The map in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is more complicated - and useful - than you might think, at least at first.

The chart above shows the games as being neck and neck, but with PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds getting the edge. You must fight with other players to locate weapons and supplies, and ultimately be the last one to survive. While it is a stand-alone sequel to Defense of the Ancients (DotA), Dota 2 won a lot more hearts than its predecessor did. You'll also like Metro: Exodus.

Amidst the decline of "Dota 2" current users, PlayerUnknown's "Battlegrounds" is gaining additional current users at a much more impressive pace. This is the same size as the original Erangel map, meaning there's plenty of space to duke it out in the battle royale scenario.

The new loot crate-and-key system, featuring content tying into the new Dark Tower movie, and the first paid unlockables. The game sees one hundred individuals - both in teams or solo - battle it out in an open-world until only one victor remains. For a survival shooter game that is still in development this was a huge feat.
