Personable Benitez makes most of limited Newcastle squad

Brighton manager Chris Hughton previously worked at Newcastle and believes Benitez is benefiting from the signings made for last year's Championship campaign.

Brighton and Hove Albion have secured the permanent signing of Tim Krul only weeks after joining the club on a season-long loan from Newcastle United.

"Newcastle will be a tougher test, there was just a point between the two over the course of 46 games in the toughest league in the world last season and I still think we are pretty closely matched".

The club moved up to fourth in the table after last weekend's 2-1 win over Stoke City.

Hughton has been boosted by captain Bruno, Glenn Murray, Izzy Brown and Gaetan Bong all returning to contention for the meeting with his former team, whose fine start to the season has not surprised him.

For Rafa Benitez's side, Paul Dummett remains sidelined whilst Aleksandar Mitrovic is suspended.

Due to the club's recent form, some fans may be hoping that they can emulate their performances of the 90's when they were a major force within English football and challenged for the Premier League title.

Rafa Benitez says Newcastle's past encounters with Brighton in the Championship will have no bearing on this weekend's clash.

This signing promises to give a considerable boost the amount of Premier League experience within the dressing room and is an addition to the squad which provides the team with a solid anchor should they need it.

Rafael Benitez has warned his players' such profligacy will be punished by the Premier League's top teams.

The Seagulls needed to win just one of their last three games to take the crown but failed to do so. "And he is using all of those coaching skills to make this United side one of the most organised in the whole of the Premier League".

I know it's only five games but Newcastle have done superbly to get into the top four - not many people saw that coming!
