Peon rapes 5-year-old student in Delhi school

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the rape of a five-year-old girl inside a school here and asked for a report to be submitted by Tuesday.

The girl, a student of Class 1 had gone to the toilet to relieve herself when she was raped.

The peon, identified as Vikas and working in the school for three years, has been arrested. Calling the incident "shameful", Kejriwal tweeted, "Won't be tolerated". For example, lack of CCTV cameras, multiple entry and exit points and lack of police verification of the support staff. "Ordered magisterial inquiry. Will develop a protocol for all schools to ensure children safety". He's been working at the school for almost three years, said the police. "We are checking with his previous employers to find why he left those jobs", an officer said.

Police reported that the man, named Vikas, the peon, took the girl inside an empty classroom in the afternoon when he was walking in the corridors after handing over the lunch boxes to the teachers.

However, back home, the child told her mother that she had pain and bleeding in private parts. She was taken to a hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal tweeted, "1st Praduman & now dis!"

The Parents' Association have posed several questions to the school authority, implying that they were negligent about the safety and the security of the students."How did the knife get inside?" DCW issuing notice to this school! "R team's assisting victim (sic)". She was taken to Chacha Nehru Hospital in Geeta Colony where it was confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted, he said. She is emotionally quite disturbed. "The school administration is not taking responsibility for the act that took place on their premises".

"He was arrested from near his residence in Raghuwarpura after the victim gave his description to the police during a counselling session", he said. Strict action should be taken against the management and a case should be registered against them for negligence.

The girl's father repairs sewing machines.

The incident was reported on September 9 - a day after a class II student of Ryan International School was found dead by a school staff in the washroom with his throat slit.

"The child is still in trauma as the assailant had threatened her with dire consequences", the girl's grandfather told IANS.
