Patty Jenkins will direct 'Wonder Woman 2'

No financial terms were disclosed, but previous reports indicated that the director was holding out for a big payday - enough to make her the highest-paid female director ever. Wonder Woman also ranks as one of the summer's highest-grossing films after having become the highest-earning superhero origin film.

Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot on the set of "Wonder Woman". Wonder Woman has eclipsed $800 million at the global box office, and Jenkins was paid $1 million for that job.

But Jenkins' return, according to Deadline, was waiting on a salary bump to put her on par with a male director, who would be entitled to some serious bucks after the first film's incredible box office showing.

Jenkins is reportedly writing a script with Geoff Johns, president of DC Comics, and the sequel is rumored to be centered on the Cold War during the '80s.

The wonder woman behind Wonder Woman is returning! Not only was it the first female-led superhero film of the D.C.E.U, but it also served as the flawless antidote to recent W.B. stinkers like Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman. The studio declined comment on Jenkins' pay. The sequel is slated to open in December 2019.
