Nike unveils Cavaliers' new black uniforms

As previously announced, the home teams will determine which uniforms to wear at their games.

When Nike took over as the NBA's new jersey brand, they made some changes.

One of the world's biggest athletic apparel companies will soon have a plethora of data about customers who bought their NBA jerseys at their disposal thanks to Nike NBA smart jerseys.

"Our Nike uniforms set a new standard for connecting our most passionate fans with their favorite NBA teams and players", said Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner.

Stefan Olander, Nike vice president in charge of digital innovation, says the jerseys, embedded with a NFC (near field communication) chip will bring customers closer to the game than ever. However, one of the more interesting announcement was Nike's new NBA Connected Jersey, which fans can buy. Here's how Nike describers it in their press release. Additionally, other exclusive offers and experiences will be unveiled throughout the season. With the new NikeConnect Jersey and the NikeConnect app, fans will have access to a "Team" tab offering game day based content, stats and highlights related to the jersey's player and team.

The new uniforms come courtesy the NBA's new partnership with Nike.

Frank Ntilikina, the French sensation who is poised to launch his first National Basketball Association campaign with the New York Knicks, was also on hand to tout the technology that will be available worldwide on September 29.

All Statement Edition jerseys drop November 20, and will begin being worn on-court on November 25.
