Man Utd boss Mourinho 'furious' with with ignorant Pogba

"I don't know if it's the same one - I just know it's a hamstring".

Speaking after the match against Basel, Mourinho admitted he was unaware of the extent of the injury but stressed that he would not "cry" after Pogba's latest setback.

Shaw has featured three times for Manchester United's Under-23s this term as he recovers from a foot injury he picked up towards the end of last season.

The France global was named as captain for the UEFA Champions League match against FC Basel, but was substituted in the first half with a muscular problem. It's simple and objective that he's not playing this weekend.

Ahead of Sunday's game with struggling Everton, the United boss told reporters: "We have players waiting for an opportunity and because we have started the season really well with one match per week, [there was] no need for resting, changes, we were going with the same players".

Pogba's injury does mean that some players will be given a chance to prove themselves in the Frenchman's absence, however, with Ander Herrera likely to be called upon, having spent much of the new season on the bench, so far.

Mourinho has already said he has a good depth to his squad, with Herrera being one of the players he may have to call upon with Pogba sidelined for a possible eight games.

Marouane Fellaini replaced Pogba and the Belgian star broke the deadlock before he teed up Marcus Rashford for the home side's third goal in a 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

And the club believe that the 24-year-old's decision to train privately with a personal trainer, something which United's backroom staff advised against, made him more vulnerable to picking up muscle injuries. We lost important players last season and we were not crying or getting excuses.

The United boss said: "Luke Shaw is not injured anymore so is a question of form, is a question of option".
