Lascelles strikes again to lift Newcastle

Lascelles putting pen to paper on a new lengthy deal is, as Daily Telegraph reports, an indication that Benitez plans to be at St James' Park for the long haul despite tensions between him and the powers that be - which surfaced in the summer due to their transfer business.

Having netted the victor against Swansea last weekend, Jamal Lascelles again rose high to head the hosts to a third straight top-flight victory for the first time in nearly three years.

Xherdan Shaqiri scored for Stoke, and was the center of attention for much of the match.

Newcastle United won 2-1 yesterday to move up to fourth place in the Premier League.

After 2 failed attempts at picking up Premier League points upon returning from the Championship, Newcastle finally got back to winning ways at the 3rd and 4th times of asking, with consecutive victories against West Ham and Swansea easing earlier pressure and putting talks of another possible relegation battle to bed. I'm really pleased with his contributions.

"A lot of positives for a lot of players and still plenty of room for improvement".

We're not sure in Benitez was quite sure what Lineker said - he snaps straight into a serious answer, so either he missed it, or he was having none of Lineker's shenanigans.

"Even so, we still had two, three really good opportunities towards the end of the game which on another day we take and we get something out of the game".

"Sometimes you will score goals you don't deserve, and sometimes you will conced goals you do not deserve to".
