Journalists condemn killing of Gauri Lankesh

Senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead in front of her home on September 5 on the southern fringes of Bengaluru, was said to be working on a series of exposes concerning the prime industrialists and politicians of Karnataka. She used to tell them to put the guns down and come to the main stream.

In the video accessed byIndia Today, Jeevaraj is heard saying, "We have seen how RSS workers have lost their lives during Congress rule".

"The ideology she has been supporting and the respect she has been getting is wonderful".

According to another report, Lankesh was also disturbed by the conflicting views some of her close friends from Bengaluru as well as other regions of India held.

Indrajit further said, what Gauri did with the Naxals is "admirable", and he respects that.

Speaking to reporters, Kyrmenlang Uriah, president of MEMA, said he was concerned about the growing incidents of violence against journalists.

Koppa police station inspector D N Kumar said that the complaint will be forwarded to the Bengaluru police where a case has been registered in connection with Gauri's murder.

Asked if the investigation could be handed over to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, Siddaramaiah said: "Have left it to the Director General of Police (R.K. Dutta) who will speak to the state Home Minister (Ramalinga Reddy) and decide". "Social concerns and ideology was in her blood", she said.

Vijayawada: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan termed the killing of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh as a heinous crime.

Lankesh was the editor of the Gauri Lankesh Patrike, a tabloid described as an "anti-establishment" publication.

"We condemn all prejudice and malafide comments are being made on the regrettable and unfortunate killing of Gauri Lankesh", he said.
