Jamie Lee Curtis Returning For Halloween Sequel

Jamie Lee Curtis Returning For Halloween Sequel

This is something of a shock, considering that Laurie Strode was killed off in the opening scenes of 2002's poorly received Halloween: Resurrection, the last of the original Halloween series before the two Rob Zombie-helmed Halloween reboots.

Curtis posted about the news on her Facebook page on Friday: "Same porch".

Fans wonder where the new film will pick up in the Halloween cannon and if Laurie Strode is just as evasive of death as Michael Myers.

And if you're scratching your head and wondering how this is possible...that just means you've seen all of the Halloween movies. The show paid homage to horror tropes and featured Curtis alongside a new generation of "scream queens", including Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Billie Lourd, and Abigail Breslin. Same issues. 40 years later. Of the pitch from McBride and Green, Carpenter also said, "I think you're gonna dig it".

The announcement was made on Twitter along with Blumhouse's tweet of the official release date - October 19, 2018.

According to the official press release, the plot is: "Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago".

In the realm of slasher movies, few franchises can compare to Halloween.

Production is expected to start soon on the new Halloween, so we should be hearing some more casting news soon. Because sometimes, lightning (slash, insanely scary and genius horror movies starring Jamie Lee Curtis) strikes twice.

Universal Pictures released the first photo of Curtis in costume, as killer Michael Myers lurks behind her with a butcher knife.
