Federation Internationale de Football Association approve Russia 2018 World Cup final draw procedure in Moscow

Federation Internationale de Football Association announced on Thursday a new and simplified format for the 2018 World Cup draw with the teams to be grouped by their place in the world ranking rather than their continent.

Egypt, who are 30th in the world with 866 points, are still Africa's number one.

Tunisia improved to 31, while Senegal and Democratic Republic of Congo are 33 and 42 respectively.

Mexico is the top-ranked CONCACAF team at 14, followed by Costa Rica at 21, both teams retaining their placings from last month.

The ranking released on September 14 by Federation Internationale de Football Association revealed that the Eagles dropped from the 38th to 44th position with 695 points.

The Africa Cup of Nations champions dropped 10 places from 35th to 45th and are now ranked 6th in Africa.

The Eagles return to competitive action in a crucial top-of-the-table World Cup qualifier against Group B rivals Zambia in October.

Meanwhile, Germany returned to the top position after pushing Brazil to No. 2.

South Korea, which recently qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, has dropped out of the top 50 in the latest world rankings from the world football governing body.

"But that notwithstanding, the Eagles should always be consistent in delivering good performances in every match they play, " he said.

European champions Portugal is up three places to number three, while Argentina fell one to number four and Belgium climbed four places to number five.
