Ernesto Valverde and Paulinho speak out after Getafe La Liga win

With time running out Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde introduced Paulinho in the 78th minute.

The visitors lost Ousmane Dembele to injury in the opening period of his full Liga debut and their Saturday afternoon got worse when Japan worldwide Gaku Shibasaki scored his first Getafe goal in stunning fashion before the break.

Table toppers Barcelona have now won five games out of five in the Spanish La Liga.

Defending champions Real Madrid travel to Real Sociedad on Sunday (kick-off 19:45 BST).

Getafe had taken the lead in the first half through Gaku Shibasaki's stunning volley high into the roof of the net.

Getafe had a wonderful chance to take the lead in the 17th minute when a deflected Shibasaki cross fell for Molina at the far post, but the striker turned just the wrong side of the post as Barcelona survived another risky moment.

"Before the game started we saw that the grass was long and dry", said the midfielder, who replaced Andres Iniesta at half time.

Barca lost Dembele to a hamstring injury midway through the first half after he had attempted a back-heel near the corner flag, Gerard Deulofeu coming on.

Messi had a free-kick brilliantly saved by Guaita and Getafe could have gained at least a point when Mauro Arambarri's deflected shot struck the foot of the post.

Barcelona completed the comeback vs. Getafe and remain ideal in La Liga courtesy of new-signing Paulinho's strike late on. Fellow new recruit Paulinho then became the unlikely hero with a goal that issued a considerable statement to his doubters.

Both teams continued to press for a victor but it was the visitors who managed to strike the decisive blow when Paulinho, who was brought on in the second half in place of Ivan Rakitic, drove into the box before firing a lovely finish across the keeper.
