Browns rookie Myles Garrett out for weeks with ankle injury

No. 1 pick Myles Garrett stood in front of the cameras and microphones Wednesday morning and doubled down on his draft-weekend talk of targeting Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger for his first National Football League sack.

Garrett played with a sprained ankle at Texas A&M last season after missing two games with the injury.

Through suspensions and injuries, the Steelers' for the first time, in a long time, will be going into week one with all of their offensive stars. Garrett sustained a lateral sprain to his left foot during minicamp while pressuring former Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Kessler started in April and the No. 1 QB before being replaced by Brock Osweiler after 9 training camp practices.

All that said, this is a better Browns team that took the field past year and won just one game at every level except quarterback.

Steelers OT Alejandro Villanueva vs. Browns DE Carl Nassib - The difference between franchises can be summed up in a guy like Villanueva. Though the team has to be relieved that further examination didn't reveal any breaks, high ankle sprains can linger and slow players like Garrett for a significant period of time. Sixth-round draft picks appear to do well in Pittsburgh, coming in a respectable fourth overall and just behind second-round draft picks with eight names. Garrett didn't hesitate when he answered "Big Ben!".

Myles Garrett's vow to take down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger might have hit a snag. I know I can get up and go now, so that's not a thing I'm anxious about. With Pryor gone, the Browns will start Derrick Kindred together with first-round safety Jabril Peppers in their secondary. Martavis Bryant hasn't played a regular season game in almost two years.

So I've got two ways to go with it and I can't decide which one to take. "We will keep it within the family, move forward and we will work on winning". Coach Mike Tomlin said Bell's week of practice would determine workload vs. Browns.

Garrett's comments are fine with Jackson, but the Browns coach added after delivering the news on Garrett's health: "Now he has to back it up". Roethlisberger is the quarterback that got away, and he's haunted Cleveland ever since. "He will truly be missed, but we've just got to continue raise younger guys into being in that starting role and trying to fill the spot that he left".

"My bold prediction, I really feel like Myles can make the Pro Bowl his rookie year".

"Obviously, we would like to have him out there, but again, as I said several times before with not just his situation, these things happen in football".
