Absence of peace in Kashmir because of Congress' misrule, Nehruvian blunders: BJP

After failing to connect with people of India Mr Gandhi chooses the platform of convenience for berating his political opponents.... "The fact that Rahul Gandhi chose to belittle the prime minister is not a surprise but expected".

Irani said that it was expected that Rahul would rake up political issues in the USA and "belittle" Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"The politics of hate divides and polarises India making millions of people feel that the have no future in their own country".

Twitteraties did not miss the chance and trolled Rahul Gandhi over his innocent gaffe.

"A failed dynast today chose to speak about his failed political journeys in United States of America", she said.

"The President was born in a lower caste, the Vice-President is the son of a farmer, and the party President Amit Shah is not from a political dynasty", Irani added.

Apart from his "dynast" comment, Gandhi said around 2012, the Congress Party "stopped having conversations with the people".

Asked by the moderator if he was ready to be the prime ministerial candidate of the Congress party, Mr Gandhi said, "I am absolutely ready to do that.We have an organisational party that decides that and that process is now ongoing. That decision is something the Congress party should make".

Several BJP leaders alleged that Rahul Gandhi tainted the image of the country while speaking in a foreign land about the shortcomings of India.

At the event, he had also accused the Narendra Modi government of playing politics of polarisation and promoting violence.

- Even Mr Abhishek Bachchan is a dynast, also Mr Ambani, that's how entire country is running. "The decision is something the Congress party should make". Just as Rahul was rejected by people in 2014 with Congress getting lowest ever numbers, 44 in Lok Sabha which even deprived it of the Leader of the Opposition position, Akhilesh was rejected by people in Uttar Pradesh earlier this year. That's how India works.

Meanwhile, in a rare gesture, Rahul did compliment the Prime Minister for his oratory skills and conceded that Mr Modi is a much better communicator than him. "That's he's going to an worldwide stage to speak about his failed political journey in a country where people didn't accept him", she said. "The government's economic policies and the hastily applied GST can cause tremendous damage".

"He (Modi) knows how to give a message to 3-4 different groups in a crowd, so his messaging ability is very effective and subtle", added Rahul.

Gandhi also took a dig at the BJP by claiming that "the central architecture of the BJP's schemes are ours", and cited MGNREGA and GST as two prime examples of that.
