Vehicle falls seven stories from Austin parking garage

According to KXAN, another auto "drove through the retention wires of the same garage and was left dangling nine stories in the air, but didn't fall" last September. Incredibly, the driver in the auto survived the horrific accident. Since the release of the footage the video has steadily gone viral and is being covered by news channels and media houses. It is believed that the woman behind the wheel mistakenly hit the wrong pedal - as in, the accelerator instead of the brake - which could have resulted in the auto speeding past the parking barriers to take the potentially fatal fall.

- The Austin Police Department have released surveillance footage showing a auto plunging seven stories from a downtown parking garage. The vehicle lands front-first onto the pavement, then violently bounces on the SUV before turning turtle. After seeing the car's fall and hearing the loud sound that emanated from the crash, onlookers rushed to help the driver for the vehicle.

Amazingly, both drivers in the BMW and SUV were alright.

Christi Bowmer was parking her auto on the seventh floor of an Austin garage, when the vehicle mistakenly accelerated, going through retention wires and into a building across the alley. She was later admitted to a hospital with only "non-life-threatening injuries".

This is not the first time that an incident like this has happened in the parking garage. That car's occupant managed to climb out of the auto to safety with the help of a bystander.
