Utah unemployment rate rises slightly to 3.5 percent

"Indiana's unemployment rate continues to be both at near-record lows and well below the national numbers", Steven J. Braun, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, said in a statement.

With the exception of Kings County, unemployment rates in the Central Valley rose higher in July from the month prior, according to the latest data from the state Employment Development Department.

ADWS says Arkansas' civilian labor force added 9,168, a result of 9,058 additional employed and 110 more unemployed Arkansans.

Locally, unemployment rates were at 4 percent in April and 3.6 percent in May - the lowest rates since at least 1990, according to Weaver.

North Dakota, which tied with Colorado in June, now claims that spot with a 2.2 percent unemployment rate.

The total unemployment rate for the state for July was 5.4, up 0.5 percent in a month.

Nonfarm payroll jobs in Arkansas declined 11,200 in July to total 1,244,500. Leisure and hospitality decreased 1,000. This followed a revised loss of 3,200 jobs in June.

The largest industry increases occurred in accommodation/food services, administrative/support/waste services, and wholesale trade. This was little changed from the prior year and shy of the historical peak of 77.5 percent in July of 1989.

MS payrolls rose to 1.15 million in July. Kentucky has added 23,300 jobs since July 2016, a 1.2 percent employment growth. Educational and health services increased 8,200. The Bryan-College Station and Sherman-Denison MSAs each registered an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent for July. MA has added 45,200 jobs since July 2016, according to preliminary estimates. Florida gained 32,700. Pennsylvania saw hiring of 29,000. Manufacturing rose 3,700, all in nondurable goods manufacturing (+5,200). "Because they are a large organization, a lot of time the [labor] reporting trickles into July and August", Weaver said Friday.

Local government includes public schools and tribal government.
