Tottenham Hotspur complete the signing of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a deal has been agreed with Ajax for the transfer of centre-back Davinson Sanchez.

Ajax centre-half Sanchez looks nearly certain to become their first purchase, with Spurs agreeing an initial £28m fee for the Colombian.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has challenged his players to make Wembley home and insists their poor record at Wembley has nothing to do with the unfamiliar surroundings.

The Colombian global has put pen to paper on a deal until 2023 with Spurs paying a reported club record fee of £42 million for the centre back. Sanchez has represented Columbia on the global level and will continue his development in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs, who were second in the Premier League last season, are the only English top-flight club yet to sign a player and have sold right back Kyle Walker to rivals Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur are FINALLY going to sign someone this summer transfer window.

He did, however, reveal he wants to land four new players in the next two weeks.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has remained patient in the transfer market this summer, while at the same time, admitting that he was keen to strengthen his squad before the end of the window.

Ajax's director of player policy, Marc Overmars, said: "Last week, many conversations were held with Davinson and Spurs' business observers".

Sanchez had also been linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid. "We need to show we are ready", he said. "They have contracts. They signed their contracts and they were so happy when they signed their contracts".
