The CW sets date for next Arrow-verse crossover

Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) was a part of last season's crossover, but "Supergirl" the show didn't carry much of the story.

At today's TCA, CW announced that the first night of this season's WBTV/DC superhero crossover will be Monday, Nov. 27 when Supergirl will be paired with Arrow.

"Last year's crossover was our most successful week I believe in CW's history", CW president Mark Pedowitz explained.

After the massive success of the CW's four-way crossover previous year, the network decided to make it an annual thing. It would be better and tighter in terms of storytelling to make it like a two-night, two-hour miniseries. This consolidation of the crossover into a two-night event may be created to remedy the ratings disparities in last year's event, which saw an odd drop-off in its climactic chapter in Legends Of Tomorrow. "They're all big episodic productions, and this will be even bigger".

Earlier this year, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told reporters that the shows were planning for a true four-way crossover next season. After all, they've helped each other and saved the world together countless times.

He was light on other details, except to say that "romance is in the air". This may mean that we see a big cliffhanger between the two, but it also means that we're basically getting back to back Justice League movies in live action form that have a bit more hope sprinkled in than what we've come to expect from the DCEU. Ratings went on an all-time high, causing the network to earn its best ratings over the last six years. "We have no plans to develop any DC shows this season", said Pedowitz.

If you didn't see last years 4-night crossover event, there only a couple weeks left before it will be taken down from The CW's website. "That said, I've now said this on many TCAs, and I woke up one day with Supergirl and I woke up one day with Black Lightning, so talk to me in May about what we have". Arrow will round out the DCTV Universe premieres on October 12.
