Sunderland to discipline Darron Gibson after midfielder's explicit rant against team-mates

SUNDERLAND have confirmed they have launched an internal disciplinary process following footage of Darron Gibson's foul-mouth criticism of a number of his team-mates on Saturday night.

The former Manchester United and Everton midfielder, however, also declares he wants to "fight for the club".

Gibson was told by fans that the players clearly did not care about the club, and replied in no uncertain terms that he and some did - and there were others who simply did not and were not trying hard enough at all. "There are too many people are the club who don't give a f***".

Asked by a fan if he was bothered about Sunderland's relegation from the Premier League, Gibson said: 'Of course I am, I don't want to be bothered that we are s***.

The statement announced Sunderland officials would "initiate internal disciplinary processes to the deal with the matter".

"Right, there's one." He said in response to Lamina Kone's name being mentioned; followed by names such as Jeremain Lens and Wahbi Khazri cropping up, to which he "Next one." after each.

The statement added: "Darron has apologised this (Monday) morning".

"I mean for him to say those things he's a renegade isn't he?"

"Sunderland is a cesspit at the moment and they just don't need it".

Years ago players might have got away with it - going for a drink after you got thrashed.

"Absolutely brainless behaviour, and they'll throw the book at him". I don't think it's a sackable offence.

Gibson said "we're f****** s***" of his team following a 5-0 thrashing to the Scottish champions, before he was asked by one supporter whether that bothered him.
