Manchester United should not target Danny Rose

Tottenham took up temporary residency at Wembley for its European matches last season, but Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping his team's form at the stadium improves. But the time is clearly coming where Spurs will be forced to break their strict wage structure or risk their star players asking to leave. I'm just not buying the idea that we don't need anyone.

"Everybody was praising the talent of this squad, the understanding between players, young players".

BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas told Express Sport: "Where Arsenal have been very good and very strong is they've had the ability to sell their stars and still move in that direction".

"We are so close to making it happen".

Otherwise it should be a familiar side with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli looking to carry over their excellent form from last season as they support Golden Boot victor Harry Kane in attack.

Rose, born in the northern English county of Yorkshire, has been linked with a move to Tottenham's London rivals Chelsea - the Premier League champions - as well as Manchester United.

Pochettino's side have struggled at the national stadium in recent times, including in their bad Champions League campaign a year ago where they did not make it out of the group stage. It's a game of poker at the moment but you learn very quickly in football that contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on. "So at the minute, I think it's quite hard to predict but if you pushed me, I'd go with one of the Manchester clubs".

The north London club do not have an easy task on their hands.

The departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City in the summer transfer window means that Kieran Trippier is now the first-choice right-back. The deal shows the influence that the richest club have over the rest of the league.

What question marks there are are rooted in a rather shocking number of injuries Spurs are dealing with as they begin the season. Pochettino has helped to bring the relative success that has changed this situation at the club, for now.

Tottenham finished third in 2015-16 and second last season and, asked whether they could go one better and win the Premier League, Pochettino added: "Of course".

In more saga news in one of, if not the, most over the top transfer window in the history of football - Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has revealed in an interview that he would consider leaving the club and is looking to play "up North" before he ends his career.
